What are breast disorders?
Breast disorders may either be benign (i.e. non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous).
The most common types of breast disorders include the following :
Symptoms and diagnosis of breast disorders
Breast lumps can be identified through physical examination of the breasts. The appearance of breast lumps during menstrual periods is a common occurrence. However, if the lump continues to persist, a breast ultrasound or even a breast biopsy may be recommended to ascertain the cause.
Breast pain or tenderness : Breast tenderness during menstruation is a commonly observed phenomenon. However, if you persistently suffer from tender breasts, a thorough breast examination is recommended in order to determine the presence of any underlying cause
Inverted Nipples : Women born with inverted nipples, or breastfeeding women experiencing inverted nipples is no cause for concern. However, if you were born with normal nipples which seem to be inverting, then a mammogram and a physical breast examination is recommended
Nipple discharge : A mammogram or ductogram is recommended in case of clear or bloody discharge from your nipples when you haven’t been breastfeeding for the past year.
Breast Cancer : The most common symptom of breast cancer is the presence of a lump in the breast. Swollen lymph nodes could be another indicator.
